Defensive Driving Certification

All drivers of university vehicles are required to have a current defensive driving certification from Campus Safety (reserving vehicles for personal use is strictly prohibited).

Completed the Training already? Reserve a vehicle online.

There are two parts to the general, golf cart only, and 11 passenger van certifications: online training and hands-on training. Online training is provided through SafeColleges, and the hands-on portion of the course is administered by appointment through Campus Safety.

Forklift certification will consist of only in-person training that is also administered by appointment through Campus Safety

License Requirements

Golf cart drivers do not need a driver's license. For all other vehicles, a valid and current U.S. driver's license is required. International licenses and permits are not accepted. Campus Security employees seeking certification must be U.S. citizens.

Note for Senior Missionaries

Senior missionaries should send an email to byuhsafety@byuh.edu to make an appointment to complete both online and in-person trainings.

Choose the appropriate training instructions below. For questions/concerns, email Campus Safety at byuhsafety@byuh.edu
